Which cookies are healthiest?
By definition, cookies are a dessert which means they contain some sugar. There are creative cookie recipes out there that use a non-traditional sweeteners such as banana, but that type of substitute doesn’t work for this particular recipe.
But, the main swaps we make for this healthy Famous Amos cookies recipe is using coconut sugar instead of white or brown sugar. While these healthy cookies are not low in sugar, coconut sugar overall is better for your blood sugar.
You can also use sugar free chocolate chips to lower the amount of sugar in this recipe even more!

In a medium bowl, mix together the melted coconut oil, coconut sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and non-dairy milk. Mix until a dough starts to form. Fold in the chopped chocolate chips.
Roll the dough into small teaspoon-sized balls. Lightly press the balls down to flatten, and bake the cookies for about 12-15 minutes. Cool before enjoying! They will crisp up as they cool.
Are these cookies vegan?
These healthy cookies also just so happen to be vegan, which is another reason to love these homemade treats!
Are these cookies gluten free?
You can easily make these healthy cookies gluten free by using a gluten free flour blend. The Krusteaz brand is my favorite! You may also try substituting with almond flour, but I have not personally tested that recipe. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!
