Although this garlic bread recipe isn’t for the lazy, it is for people who love garlic bread and want a tasty snack or side dish to eat alone, or with pasta.
The hardest part about making this homemade garlic bread is waiting an hour for the garlic to roast in the oven. So, this recipe isn’t for the impatient, but I promise if you can wait you will be rewarded with the best homemade garlic bread of your life!
Want to know why garlic bread is so good? It’s the butter. And the roasted garlic. And the pinch of salt. This makes garlic bread a deliciously savory snack or side dish that’s extremely addicting!
Is this garlic bread vegan?
Yep! We use vegan butter for our addicting garlic spread, so this garlic bread recipe is completely vegan. Most store-bought bread is also vegan, but be sure to check the ingredients list to make sure.
What are the ingredients for this garlic bread?
It’s simple! To make this vegan garlic bread, all you need is:
Bread (preferably a baguette)
Garlic
Vegan butter (I love Earth Balance butter)
How do you make this vegan garlic bread?
Making this vegan garlic bread is surprisingly easy! The hard part is waiting for the roasted garlic to be ready, but it’s the key to making the best tasting garlic bread on earth!
Start out by slicing just the top off of your garlic bulb, and drizzle it with olive oil. Wrap in aluminum foil, and roast in a 400 F oven for one hour. That’s the hard part, the rest is easy!
Remove the garlic from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before squeezing the roasted garlic into a small bowl. Mix with softened vegan butter, nutritional yeast, parsley, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt. Spread this on top of your sliced baguette, and roast in the oven for about 10 minutes, until the edges of the bread starts to brown.
Slice your garlic bread into wedges and enjoy on its own, or with marinara sauce!
Is this vegan garlic bread healthy?
Hmm… I typically don’t like to categorize food as healthy or unhealthy. I think eating a balanced diet is much more important than scrutinizing individual foods or food groups.
This vegan garlic bread has lots of fresh roasted garlic and butter, which are both delicious and should be enjoyed!
How long will garlic bread last in the fridge?
I’d be surprised if this vegan garlic bread lasts in your house for for more than a day ;) But, you can certainly store any leftovers in the fridge! When wrapped in foil, this garlic bread will last about 3-4 days in the fridge.
How long will garlic bread last in the freezer?
Much longer! These can keep for about 3 months in the freezer!
How do you reheat garlic bread?
To reheat this vegan garlic bread, place it on a baking sheet and bake in a 350 F oven for about 10 minutes (when refrigerated) or 15-20 minutes (when frozen). Be sure to check on your garlic bread as it’s reheating so it doesn’t burn.
